WordPress Development Packages and Costs
3 min readNet Developer
Most WordPress quotes are vague because the scope is vague. A number without a list of what it covers tells you very little. We sell WordPress work as three fixed-price packages, so the price, the timeline and the contents are known before the first call ends. This guide walks through each package and how to choose.
The three packages at a glance
- Starter, $1,997. A five-page site, built in 14 days.
- Business, $3,997. A custom theme with ten pages, built in 21 days.
- Authority, $7,997. Twenty-plus pages, a documented design system and integrations, built in 30 days.
Prices are in US dollars. The full breakdown of each package is on the WordPress development page.
Starter, $1,997: a credible site, fast
Starter is for a business that needs to look real online and does not need anything unusual. It covers five custom-designed pages that work at every screen size, an on-page SEO and Core Web Vitals pass, a contact form wired to your CRM, and two rounds of revisions. The build takes 14 days.
It suits a new consultancy, a local service business or a coach who needs a home page, a services page, an about page, a contact page and one more. If you already know you want a blog with a proper structure or custom editing blocks, start at Business instead. Those are listed under Business, not Starter.
Business, $3,997: a theme built around your content
Business is our recommended package for a site that has to rank and convert. You get ten custom-designed pages on a bespoke theme with no page-builder bloat, custom Gutenberg blocks built with ACF Pro, blog architecture and SEO schema, and three rounds of revisions. The build takes 21 days.
The custom blocks are the part people underestimate. They let your team edit content without breaking the layout, because each block only allows the choices the design expects. Page builders give editors almost unlimited freedom, which is also how pages drift off-brand.
Authority, $7,997: a site that carries a brand
Authority is for larger sites: twenty or more pages with complex templates, a documented design system, CRM, payment and API integrations, programmatic landing-page templates, and unlimited revisions during the 30-day sprint.
The design system matters after launch. When it is documented, the next page or campaign is built from parts that already exist instead of from scratch, and a new developer can pick the site up without guessing.
Why we price by package
Each package is a scope we have delivered many times. That is why we can quote it before the call rather than after it. When the work is well understood, an hourly estimate adds uncertainty without adding information.
What the price does not include
Third-party costs are separate unless a proposal says otherwise. Under our terms that means hosting, licences, premium plugins, themes, stock media and platform subscriptions. Prices also exclude any sales tax, VAT or withholding that applies. Ask for these to be listed in any quote you compare, because they change the real total.
What moves a project out of a package
Requests that change the agreed scope, such as additional pages, new features or a change of direction after design approval, are quoted separately before work continues. That protects both sides: you are never invoiced for work you did not agree to, and the fixed price stays fixed. If your project does not fit a package, we quote it custom after a call.
How to choose
Three questions settle it for most projects.
- How many pages do you need on day one? Around five points to Starter, around ten to Business, twenty or more to Authority.
- Who will edit the site? If several people will publish content, the custom blocks in Business or Authority are worth the difference.
- Does the site need to talk to other systems? Payment and API integrations beyond a contact form are part of Authority.
Not sure which fits? Book a call and we will scope it with you. If a different platform would serve you better, we will say so. That is the point of building on four platforms, and it is why we also cover Shopify and custom builds.
